Richard B. Fox, M.D., J.D.
Physician, Attorney
Dr. Fox’s undergraduate degree was in Economics (with honors), obtained at Michigan State University. After graduation he developed an interest in models of health care delivery and taught a class on that subject at the University of Minnesota. He then went on to obtain his medical degree from the University of Minnesota in 1975, being awarded one of four Outstanding Student Achievement Awards that year. This was followed by a three-year post-graduate residency in Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
Following his residency, Dr. Fox did one year of fellowship training in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine at the University of Minnesota and then accepted an offer to complete his fellowship at the Webb-Waring Lung Institute and Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado in Denver, one of the world’s leading centers for pulmonary medicine.
Following his fellowship in Denver Dr. Fox accepted a junior faculty appointment at Harvard Medical School, practicing at the world-famous Boston Children’s Hospital located in the Harvard Medical Area in Boston.
After four years at Harvard and the Boston Children’s Hospital, Dr. Fox accepted an offer to set up a new program in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine and Intensive Care at the Minneapolis Children’s Hospital, which he staffed with outstanding young doctors he had worked with and recruited from Boston.
After several years in Minneapolis, Dr. Fox moved to Los Gatos to start a Pediatric Pulmonary and Intensive Care Program at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose. After several years he recognized that there was no after-hours urgent care clinic for children in San Jose, so he organized one with locations in both East San Jose and in Los Gatos. Unfortunately, those clinics later closed as most children in San Jose became enrolled in large health plans that had their own facilities.
As the healthcare system changed, Dr. Fox realized that the political aspects of health care were becoming ever more important. Thus, in 2005 Dr. Fox entered the Santa Clara University Law School, attending class in the evenings. While there he wrote a paper on the monopolization that was occurring in healthcare that won the law school’s Antitrust Prize for that year. Dr. Fox obtained his law degree in 2009 and was admitted to the California Bar in 2012.
In 2014 Dr. Fox ran for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives as a Libertarian Republican, finishing in second place. He ran again in 2016 and, again, finished in second place. He ran a third time in 2020, finishing in third place behind two Democrats.
The recent COVID-19 pandemic has led to the deaths of more than a million Americans. The biggest tragedy of it is that most of them could have been saved with early treatment before they got so sick that they had to be hospitalized.
Dr. Fox has been one of the very few doctors in the entire South Bay area to publicly offer medicines for the early treatment of COVID-19. He has a website on which he makes that offer. Because this is such an important and necessary service, he does it as a public service at no charge. He has treated hundreds of people with no deaths at all. Early treatment works!
Dr. Fox is now, once again, running for the U.S. Congress in 2022. This time he is using his campaign as a platform to let everyone know about early treatment of COVID-19 and the risks and dangers of the COVID-19 shots, the incompetence and corruption of Dr. Fauci, the CDC, the FDA, and the urgent need to get rid of Dr. Fauci and overhaul the CDC and FDA.
Dr. Fox has been married to his wife for more than fifty years. They have three children and four grandchildren. In his spare time, Dr. Fox restores historic homes. His home in Los Gatos has been featured in several historic home tours.
